The 2024 vintage release of 'Over The Shoulder' Pinot Noir from Yarra Valley's Oakridge is a bright, deep garnet with a light purple hue. The aromas are beautiful, fragrant and forward with red fruit - red currants, raspberry and cherry. Under, there are suggestions of milky-vanilla oak, and brown spice from whole bunch inclusion. The palate is soft, juicy and round with fine, velvety tannins from start to finish. The crunchy cranberry acidity adds length and refreshment. Fruit forward, balanced, but certainly not simple.

Pinot Noir is an excellent accompaniment to lightly spiced Thai dishes or even a mid-morning round of Chinese yum cha. Oily meals such as salmon, tuna or pasta will pair well with a light and dry Pinot Noir, while the more tannic styles go with richer foods like a beef bourguignon. And don't forget the cheese.
